Curtain rings down on track event as Dutch top standings

(Beijing, December 9) The "Good Luck Beijing" 07-08 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics came to an end today as the Netherlands ranked first in the overall medal tally with 4 golds. Host China settled for 20th with 2 bronzes.

All together 376 riders of 69 teams from 44 countries and regions competed in the Olympic qualifying tournament which comprises 17 individual events, including 7 men's and 3 women's Olympic events.

After three days' competitions, the Netherlands collected 4 golds and 2 bronzes to top the list. The second to the fourth went to France, Great Britain and Team DSB respectively, each with 2 golds.

China earned bronzes in two non-Olympic events: the men's kilometer individual time trial and women's team sprint final, placing 20th.

The host also collected ranking points in the three Olympic events, among which they did best in the women's sprint earning 5th and 12th.
